In 1880 a little Victorian Chapel was built on the site of our church. It slowly reached the end of it's life, the building fabric was exhausted and the building was totally inadequate to serve the growing community - in fact it was literally bursting at its seams. This is why the current new building was built. It wasn't just as easy as building it though... The enlarged building though would cost a significant amount, so a desperate need for fundraising was needed. The site and plans were all ready. A small membership had managed to raise £17,500 towards the cost and Methodist Funds had promised £105,000. This all helped. The need for this new church was beyond question, help was needed from all of the community. The local community managed to raise £62,500, the total cost of the building came to £190,000. In 1990 it was completed, the money had been raised, the building you now see before you was built. The church's official opening day was Saturday May 5th .
